The problem
In fall of 2023, a personal friend and fellow business owner went to the
hospital for
COVID-19. Their loved ones did what they could to help - both personally, at the
hospital,
and in business, by trying to keep the gears running.
They faced obstacles: lack of access to key systems like payroll, uncertainty about
whether
the business owner would recover, and uncertainty about what actions they were
legally
allowed to take.
The employees stopped showing up when payroll didn't go out, and customers left
messages
asking what had happened.
The business collapsed and its value plummeted to zero.
It's easy to point fingers in the aftermath. Some spoke of life insurance, others of
the
importance of having a trusted successor already picked out and pre-trained for a
day like
this.
But would those actions actually solve the problem?
Envisioning a better way
Founded by a small business owner, FranGuardian understands that small
businesses exist in a
different context than large corporations, and they have different goals. Small
business owners
have goals around helping their community and obtaining financial freedom, which
cannot be
achieved through a one-time insurance payout. Where large corporations can hire
consulting firms
to spend months auditing systems and procedures, a small business owner has a much
smaller
budget to work with, and days are jam-packed with never-ending to-do lists. The
future feels
uncertain - is it worth protecting or not? Planning for the future falls behind in
the urgency
of today's challenges.
Yet success is a process, not a destination.
We want you to succeed.
FranGuardian believes that any good business model should include a minimum level of
exit
planning. Our services are designed to be as affordable and efficient as possible,
without
sacrificing security. We also directly offer ourselves as a helping hand when a
business owner
passes away, so their loved ones have the option of delegating to us to keep the
business alive
while they take the time they need to grieve and take care of the person's other
affairs.
